The flu virus
kills. We encourage all our over
65years and those at risk, due to
their medical problems, to get
protection against the flu each
year.
We run our flu campaign during
October to December each year.
Some patients,
regardless of their age, are at
increased risk from the effects of
flu because they fall into certain
risk groups. People in the following
groups should be vaccinated every
year: Diabetes, Asthma, COPD,
emphysema, bronchitis, cystic
fibrosis, Heart disease, renal
failure, undergoing dialysis or have
had a kidney transplant, liver
disease, weakened immune system and
splenectomy. If you are unsure if
you fall into an ‘at risk’ group
please ask the receptionist who will
be able to advise you.
We also offer Pneumococcal
vaccination to all those who are
eligible for Flu vaccination (this
is not a yearly vaccination and,
usually, needs only to be given
once).
